Trauma Therapist in East Ann Arbor
Meet Abbe Newman!
She works with: Adults, Couples, Kids
Her Specialties: Trauma, LGBTQIA, Relationship Issues
She enjoys working with adults and joining them on their journey of figuring out who they are, what messages they have received from their caregivers, and which of those messages no longer serve them. She helps people clarify and focus on their values and how to build a life worth living. Those who have experienced abuse and/or neglect as children, tend to feel depressed, ashamed, worthless and struggle to find their purpose. I enjoy helping others on the journey of getting to know themselves better by being a non-judgmental, open, supportive and encouraging person in their corner. I believe the client-counselor relationship is the most important aspect of therapy and work hard to keep an open, honest and communicative space for my clients to explore themselves further. Feeling understood and developing trust in yourself and others can be transformative.
She also enjoys working with kids, teens and their parents. We all know being a kid and a teen is hard. Some struggle with self-worth, depression or anxiety. We work together on developing a strong, safe relationship to explore what works and what hasn't and explore different coping skills and parenting styles. I find the best way to support families is through individual care and concern as well as providing a safe space to talk about fears, anxieties and failures in order to support and validate ones experience. It is important to feel seen, heard and valued as a human, and I do my best to provide this to my clients and their families.
